Meet Suzy Pepper

Art with colour, character and a story to tell

Hello, I’m Suzy—an artist, maker and storyteller. I’ve always loved how a special object, a splash of colour or something wonderfully unexpected can transform a space. To me, art should make you smile, stir a memory, start a conversation and add personality to everyday life.

What I Create

I create original pieces that celebrate texture, humour and individuality—from dramatic masquerade masks and mixed-media canvases to transformed furniture, decorative objects and bespoke commissions. Every piece begins with curiosity: a remembered place, a favourite character, a shell found on the beach, an old postcard, a joke or an idea that refuses to sit quietly. The result is expressive, playful and often delightfully unexpected.

I don’t believe in following trends or worrying about what’s in fashion. If something makes you happy, speaks to you or brings character to your home, then it’s exactly where it belongs.

What Matters to Me

Before becoming an artist and maker, I trained as a nurse and still work in the NHS—a role I’m proud to hold. It has shaped how I see people and taught me the value of resilience, joy and small comforts.

Life can be challenging, and I’ve seen the power of simple pleasures: a beautiful view, a treasured memory or a quirky object that lifts your spirits each time you see it.

In a busy, ever-changing world, filling our spaces with things that hold humour, character or meaning can be a quiet act of self-care. The best pieces aren’t simply displayed—they become part of your life and your story.

What Inspires Me

Born in Yorkshire and now dividing my time between Yorkshire, Kent and the Lake District, I draw inspiration from moors, mountains, coastlines, nostalgia, iconic characters and the overlooked details of everyday life.

I’ve shared a few photographs of the places and sights that make me happy—from the cheerful madness of my coral basement lounge bar and my cosy snug to the beauty found out in the world. I hope they offer a little glimpse into what inspires my work.

Take a Look Around

I hope something here inspires you. Take a look around, find a piece that makes you smile, or get in touch and we can create something completely personal together.
